KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian-born singer has crooned his way into the hearts of the Japanese with his debut album, I Need You Baby.
Muhammad Aizuddin Anwar, or Aizdean, has attracted 30,000 mobile downloads among youngsters in the Land of the Rising Sun.

His debut album, which is in Japanese and English, was also distributed in the United States and Europe via iTunes.

Now, the 27-year-old Selayang-born Aizdean is set to release another Japanese-only album, Show Me The Glory, next month.

The album is an image song for a Japanese game called Far East of Eden.

Aizdean said in an email interview that he wished to promote Japanese music in Malaysia and vice versa.

The holder of a master's in electronics engineering from the University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo, is home for a holiday until July 10.

"My dream is to become someone who can build bridges between Malaysia and Japan by giving alternatives to the Japanese," said Aizdean, who used to sing in a nasyid group during his school days.

Aizdean, whose idols include Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin, Dayang NurFaizah and Linkin Park, started learning to sing in Japanese in January last year.

He learnt Japanese after the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination.

He studied the language for a year here and another year in Tokyo.

Aizdean is, at present, sponsored by Tourism Malaysia, Japan Malaysia Association, Van Council and Dragon Beard in Japan.

"I'm also looking forward to having more sponsors in Malaysia as I need support from my homeland," said young star who specialises in rhythm and blues (R&B). -- Bernama
